March 8th, 2008
well crap, i turned 30.
the ending to last night’s episode of 30 rock was really unexpected but awesome nonetheless.
why is it that comcast’s service seems to out every time there’s a big storm in the area? this is the same company who used to advertised that directv and echostar were inferior because weather played a factor in their ability to provide a service. i didnt know what to do with myself yesterday with no cable tv or internet connection.
not wanting to put time into making a list of resolutions for 2008 A.D., here’s a short list of things i am looking forward to this year:
sounds like it’s going to be an easy year. we’ll see.
my best of for 2007:
movie of the year: dan in real life. it was a toss up between dan and superbad. dan gets the edge as it is something i could watch with a newly found interesting girl. interesting tidbit: in the 40 year old virgin, the drunk girl tells carell’s character to “don’t ever be named dan.”
book of the year: wicked. despite winning by default, for lack of reading on my part, this is still a great read. AAA+++ would read again if i weren’t lazy.
album of the year (at least new to me): muse’s black holes and revelations. i cant get enough of this synth-infused rock album.
tv show of the year: pushing daisies. it’s all about the writing and how the narrator interacts with the show. anna friel being easy on the eyes helps too.
game of the year: super mario galaxy. unadulterated fun is how i would describe the game. there were numerous times when i was smiling while playing the game. and there are a fair number of challenging parts that i simply could not avoid or put down. not since marching band did “one more time” not mean “one more time.”
it’s old news now that w00t is the word of the year. personally, i’d would have nominated “blah blah blah” for that distinct honor. it’s not something that is seen in writing but more so in conversation. blah blah blah is much like seinfeld’s yadda yadda yadda but it seems like the number of times i hear it in the workplace increases every month.
you know how i say i don’t have much reason to move back to dallas? i take that back. football is reason enough to move back. i desperately want to watch the cowboys-packers game tonight.
and so ends my cat sitting duties. not once did i see any cats. the only way i could tell they existed (and not merely going through some pet training exercise) was from seeing an empty bowl of food and a much used litter box.
did you know it takes approximately 300 gallons of water to rid a bird of oil? this is definitely one of the most interesting blog posts i’ve seen in a while.
the two billionth picture is on flickr. i think i deserve some credit with the picture. i figure the picture happened to be the commemorative two billionth picture partly because i uploaded my fair share of pictures. imagine what else could have been the two billionth picture had i gotten around to uploading the other pictures in my library. we could very well be looking at another picture of a cat.
why do credit card companies still insist on printing the entire account number on the mailings they send out?
a short list of signs that i’m aging:
i’m trying to figure which cat steven’s compilation is better by name alone. there’s “the very best of cat stevens” and “Remember Cat Stevens: Ultimate Collection”.
